The partnership between the National Nordic Museum and Scan Design Foundation was established over 15 years ago. The Museum and the Foundation both build connections between the Nordic countries and the U.S. in their work in Seattle. Scan Design Foundation specifically sponsors programming related to Denmark at the Museum.
In 2010, Scan Design Foundation contributed a $3 million grant to the development of the new Nordic Museum. $2 million was to be used for the Museum’s capital campaign and $1 million was allocated to Danish and Danish-American programs over a span of twenty years.
The National Nordic Museum and Scan Design Foundation continue to collaborate on programs, projects, and exhibitions that put a spotlight on Danish art, culture, and history.
Scan Design Foundation's support really jumpstarted the Capital Campaign for the museum as it is today. With a two-decade commitment of support, we have been able to develop excellent Danish programs and have brought exceptional exhibitions to Seattle.
